Was one of the greats of Lindy Hop in the Kat's Corner at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, New York City, NY in the 1930s & 1940s. He toured Europe and South America in the 1940s and choreographed and danced in many films and kinescopes. In 1947 he founded "The Congeroos" dance group. 1n 1988 he won a Tony Award for choreography in the Broadway Musical "Black & Blue." His scenes dancing the Lindy Hop in 1941 movie Helzapoppin are famous throughout the world and have inspired a renewed interest in the Lindy Hop by many people.
